Lymphedema

What is lymphedema?

Lymphedema refers to a condition that has impaired lymphatic drainage, leading to swelling in arms and legs. When your lymphatic system is unable to clear lymph fluids from tissues, localised swelling in your extremities occurs, which is identified as lymphedema. Secondary lymphedema is more common as a result of damage to lymphatic drainage.

Benefits of Electro-Lymphatic Therapy (ELT)

  • Ensure lymphatic drainage of both superficial and deeper layers
  • The superficial layer is where 70% of the lymph fluids are at, doing manual lymphatic massages drains this as well
  • ELT is able to reach the deep layers where 70% of our immune system resides
  • Ability to drain the lymph through anastomosis which helps to clear out congestion
  • Reroute of lymph fluids for lymphatic system to prevent the buildup of lymph fluids
